EMIfreecar.com says it’s a win-win for car buyers as their EMIs are taken care of as well as advertisers who have a new platform for campaigns. Rising disposable income, wider dealership networks and attractive finance schemes are helping more Indians indulge their fancy for upscale marques. Over the last 3-4 years, sales of entry level models in this segment — BMW X1, 3 Series, Audi Q3, A4 and Mercedes Benz A Class, B Class, C Class — have tripled to 12,000 cars from 4,000. Tesla Motors beat all expectations to post a profit instead of the loss Wall Street analysts had predicted.The real story is the success of its Model S, the most technologically innovative electric car ever built. Tesla sold 5,150 units of Model S, instead of the 4,500 it had planned. Tesla CEO Elon Musk is the business innovator behind this.

Technology innovations are really behind the success of Tesla. Just one of them, the use of small batteries instead of the large ones preferred by other companies, made the Model S a more powerful, sleeker and safer car.Its battery swap could take this concept further, as it allows recharge within 90 seconds.

Hero has missed analyst estimates for net profit in seven of the last eight quarters. In the quarter to December 2012, it posted its lowest net margin in 15 years, as sales tapered, costs increased and a re-branding exercise made it to spend a lot more on advertising.
