Bharat Broadband Network (BBNL) is set to diversify into the internet business to deliver government-to-citizen e-services nationally from April 2016, a top company official told ET. It though has decided against pitching for a unified licence as it does not plan to enter the mobile services business, as originally suggested by the telecom department.

Raising necessary cost and infrastructure for providing broadband services at village level  within the time period of planning will decide the success of this project.
